Singer-songwriter Nicky Schrire has shared an original Christmas song called “Yuletide.”
Like much of Schrire’s music, “Yuletide” blurs the lines between jazz, folk and singer-songwriter traditions. The song features accompaniment by pianist Chris Donnelly and bassist Dan Fortin, along with a string quartet arrangement by Grammy Award-winning violinist Drew Jurecka.
The new single follows the release of her latest album Nowhere Girl earlier this year.
Schrire was born in London and grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. She moved to New York City to attend the Manhattan School of Music and, after nearly five years in the city, returned to Cape Town via London. She relocated to Toronto in 2020. The release of Nowhere Girl marked her first album in 10 years.
