As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end … and when the work is done with heart,
hard work, strong artistic vision, and commitment, the legacy endures and inspires those who follow.
In the 17 years of his tenure as the Executive Director for the Royal Conservatory, Mervon Mehta is
passing the torch and moving on to the next chapter of his artistic story. In the time he’s been at the
helm, Mervon Mehta has worked tirelessly to curate seasons of shows that have stood out as some of
the best in the world of live entertainment and has put Koerner Hall on the map as one of the finest
halls in the world. He joined me last week to take a bit of a look back over the past 17 years.
Mervon Mehta concludes his tenure at Koerner Hall after 17 years
When you look back at the 17 years, if you had an overarching view of everything, what were your biggest accomplishments?
Mervon Mehta: When we were thinking about what goes in the hall, we all agreed that we just wanted to be the best of the best, no matter the genre. If you’re gonna have a DJ, it had to be the best DJ, if it was a singer-songwriter, it had to be the best.
Mervon, on behalf of the musicians, audiences, promoters, and more, please allow me to say “thank you” for all that you’ve done to support, promote, and advance the arts in Toronto and Canada.
Your vision and commitment to excellence have made a difference for us all and for that, we owe you a huge debt of gratitude!
