NIMAL AGALAWATTE

Nimal Agalawatte — no-input mixing board
Zula’s esteemed sound engineer, as well as a gifted performer on various musical fronts, Nimal Agalawatte brings intriguing, palate cleansing electronic sounds to the festivities, while also supporting Kim Zombik.

KIM ZOMBIK

(Montreal)

MONOLOGUE
Enchanted by words and poetry as a child, musician Kim Zombik started writing in fourth grade. She has evolved into a writer of lyrics, poems and stories. Her works are intimate, tragic and funny.

FERNANDA CUNHA & REG SCHWAGER

Fernanda Cunha vocals; Reg Schwager guitar

Brazilian-Canadian vocalist Fernanda Cunha and lauded Canadian jazz guitarist Reg Schwager mine and extend the great bossa nova canon with elegant Interpretations of the classics and intimate original compositions.

REMPIS/DAMON

Tyler Damon’s extensive vocabulary behind the drum kit has positioned him as an important figure in the American underground, while remaining deeply invested in spontaneous playing. Saxophonist Dave Rempis’ ubiquity matches his prowess — he was a member of Vandermark 5, and has also performed and recorded with the likes of Joe McPhee, Peter Brötzmann, Tomeka Reid and Nate Wooley.

LADYFINGER

Two crucial Toronto talents join forces to offer a mix of rousing improv-laced originals and fresh, expressive takes on tunes from pivotal jazz composers such as McCoy Tyner, Carla Bley, and Wayne Shorter.
