The new album by Jane Bunnett and Maqueque is out now, but a small audience of JAZZ.FM91 donors were able to get a sneak peek of the recording a day early.
Ahead of the official release of On Firm Ground / Tierra Firme, the Grammy-nominated, critically acclaimed band put on a riveting show here in the Long & McQuade Performance Hall.
The group is led by veteran Canadian saxophonist, flutist and composer Jane Bunnett, who has won five Juno Awards, earned three Grammy nominations and been appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada. Recently, she has dedicated herself to bringing the Maqueue project to the world, bringing together some of Canada’s and Cuba’s finest musicians.
