For the first time in Toronto, the Berklee Indian Ensemble showed exactly why they’re one one of the coolest and most exciting new acts to emerge from Boston.

Last week, JAZZ.FM91 welcomed the global music sensation for an intimate and interactive Live to Air concert, featuring a very special guest, Grammy-winning vocalist Vijay Prakash.

In all, more than a dozen performers took the stage in a packed Long & McQuade Performance Hall on Thursday, Aug. 8, for an evening that truly captured the spirit of India’s rich musical mosaic.

The Berklee Indian Ensemble boasts musicians and performers from around the world, blending classical, folk, Sufi and contemporary Indian music with influences from hip hop, jazz, Middle Eastern and African music to produce a whole new Indian sound. They packed it all into an incredible 90-minute concert for our audience of donors and made it a night to remember.

Thanks to Chadani for catering the reception with authentic Indian cuisine; to Mondo Wines for providing refreshments; and to Annie J Koshy from the GTA South Asian Media Network for her guidance and promotional support.
