It’s always a good time when Barbra Lica comes around the JAZZ.FM91 studios.

After an incredible performance at JAZZ LIVES, we had to bring her back for more. It was an hour of music, storytelling and even a little comedy as Heather Bambrick hosted this Live to Air concert on Monday, June 3.

The Juno-nominated singer and her band serenaded the small audience here in the Long & McQuade Performance Hall with a wonderful selection of songs from her latest album, You’re Fine, along with some older crowd-pleasers, too. Tunes like The Birds and the Bees and Because I Say So had the room in good spirits, while others like Before I Do, Let You Go and When I’m Gone got the crowd swooning. Lica gave fans an unforgettable experience with a band she unofficially dubbed “The Cat Ladies,” playing her genre-melding style that she called “outlaw jazz.”

“The concert was great and Barbra and her band were delightful. The hour went by very quickly,” said Kathy Wood. “Special thank you to Heather Bambrick, who was one of the best hosts I’ve seen. She carried the show along. Barbra and Heather could make a great comedy team — Saturday Night Live better watch out.”

“The fact that I sat in the first row and directly in front of Barbra made the whole experience feel as though I was jamming with their band in the comfort of their home,” said new donor Donna Scantlebury. “What a wonderful way to begin my staycation!”
