Kandace Springs is set to release her new album Run Your Race.
The vocalist’s new effort follows 2020’s The Women Who Raised Me, which found Springs performing the music of icons like Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Sade, Bonnie Raitt and Ella Fitzgerald. Run Your Race, meanwhile, is full of Springs’ own songs.
Springs produced the album alongside Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken for SRP Records, the imprint that released Rihanna’s first seven albums.

Run Your Race is named in honour of Springs’ father, the late Kenneth “Scat” Springs, who fronted his own R&B band and sang backup for Garth Brooks, Aretha Franklin and others. He died in 2021.
“He was one of my biggest influences growing up, teaching me everything from how to sing, piano, sports and more,” Springs says. “He was a track star in college. Some of the records he set still haven’t been broken. Due to health reasons, he spent the last two years of his life in a wheelchair, unable to run. Now he’s finally free to run his race.”
Norah Jones’s Visions is out April 5, 2024, on SRP Records.
