Jazzology alumni and current Discover Women in Jazz participant Angelica Zavala has released her debut EP, All I Know is Now, available now on all streaming platforms.
The release from the Toronto-based drummer is described as a “a reflection on identity, transition, and emotional presence, weaving together original compositions and shared influences.” The EP was co-produced with composer and musicians Elisabeth Dorion-Soucy while Matthew Manifould served as Recording and Mixing Engineer. Recent GRAMMY winner Justin Gray served as project advisor and provided additional engineering
Angelica Zavala is a recording and touring drummer of Honduran descent, based in Toronto. She studied at Humber Polytechnic, where she was the recipient of the Sabian Cymbals Award for excellence in performance. Angelica has worked with artists across a wide variety of genres such as indie pop, pop punk, Armenian folk/straight-ahead jazz, Afro-Arabic jazz, indie rock, afro-pop, lofi folk, and many more. Angelica hopes to inspire a new generation of women musicians navigating creative careers. She is a D’Addario artist and proudly plays ProMark Drumsticks and Evans Drumheads.
