Jon Batiste has been tapped to score an upcoming remake of the heist thriller The Thomas Crow Affair. In an announcement at 2026 CinemaCon, presented by Amazon MGM Studios, recent Oscar-winning actor and producer Michael B. Jordan announced that the GRAMMY award-winning singer-songwriter would compose the score for his reimagining of the 1968 film.

This isn’t the first film Batiste has composed, he won his first Oscar in 2020 for Best Original Score for the Disney-Pixar film Soul, making him the second Black composer to win in the category after Herbie Hancock in 1987.

Jordan, who won his first Oscar for best actor for the highly-acclaimed horror film Sinners, previewed the film . Batiste made a special appearance where he performed a piano rendition of “The Windmills of Your Mind”, the Academy Award-winning song from the original 1968 film.

The remake will be Jordan’s second directorial project since 2023’s Creed III and produced by MGM Studios Inc. Jordan will also be starring in the film alongside Adria Arjona, Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Aubrey Plaza, Ruth Negga, Pilou Asbæk and Aiysha Hart.

The Thomas Crown Affair is slated for release on March 5, 2027.
