In partnership with the Pat and Tony Adams Freedom Fund for the Arts, JAZZ.FM91 is proud to host the sixth season of Discover Women in Jazz.
This year’s artists are Aline Homzy, Angelica Zavala, Lala Noel, Jennarie and Dionne Wilson.
This outreach program promotes, champions and inspires the contributions of women and people of marginalized genders to jazz as instrumentalists, writers, vocalists and bandleaders. The program features five women or non-binary jazz musicians from the Greater Toronto Area selected by a distinguished panel that includes three members of JAZZ.FM91’s Alumni Committee — Joy Lapps, Ewen Farncombe and Joanna Majoko — and former jazz.fm91 board member and educator Shirantha Beddage and multi-instrumentalist and bandleader Colleen Allen.
Through this program, JAZZ.FM91 will offer these talented musicians support, space, funding, audience and marketing to foster their careers.
The concerts in this series will be broadcast live monthly from April to August from 8-9PM EST.

This year’s program also features special Jazzology interviews, supported by RBC Foundation. Taking place monthly every Wednesday from April 22 to August 12, these unique Jazzology episodes will showcase each participant in conversation with Jazzology host Heather Bambrick in the leadup to their live performance.
