A year after debuting their weekend jazz festival, JazzInToronto’s Community Celebration returns to the city during the weekend of May 29-31, celebrating Toronto’s diverse jazz artists.
Produced by founders and award-winning jazz artists Lina Welch and Ori Dagan, this community celebration aims to bring out the best in Toronto jazz. “We are really thrilled with the lineup this year,” says JazzInToronto’s artistic director Ori Dagan. “Besides booking exciting talent from rising stars to Grammy winners, we strive to be as diverse as possible, because that’s what makes Toronto unique. And of course, our hope is to connect audiences to their new favourite artists who just happen to live in their own backyard.”
This year’s lineup features a mix of emerging and established artists including Thompson Egbo-Egbo, Alex Pangman and her Sweet Hots, Adrean Farrguia, Hilario Duran and Jane Bunnett who will close out the weekend with Reg Schwager and Neil Swainson at Massey Hall. Discover Women in Jazz alumni Dánae Olano and Ale Nuñez will be performing at Liss Gallery and The Pilot respectively while current participants Jennarie and Angelica Zavala will have shows at TD Music Hall and The Emmet Ray.
JazzInToronto’s Community Celebration starts on Friday May 29 with shows across the city at St. Lawrence Market, Yorkville and Yonge and Dundas. Get your tickets today at www.jazzintoronto.ca.
