Mack Avenue and Two Lions have teamed up to present a previously unreleased concert by the Oscar Peterson Quartet.
A Time for Love: The Oscar Peterson Quartet – Live in Helsinki, 1987 features the legendary Canadian pianist performing in Finland alongside guitarist Joe Pass, bassist Dave Young and drummer Martin Drew.
The album was recorded at the final concert of a lengthy international tour in 1987, which began with four dates in Brazil. Helsinki was the final stop of a 14-date European leg, and by then, the quartet was at the height of its synergy.
“Performing with joy and vivacity, they were determined to make every concert better than the previous one,” Kelly Peterson, Oscar Peterson’s widow, said in a statement. “This night in Helsinki is a glorious example of that.”
A Time for Love will be released as a two-CD set and digitally on Nov. 26 via Mack Avenue and Two Lions. Pre-order here.
