Matt Andersen led the way at the 27th annual Maple Blues Awards, winning four trophies including entertainer of the year.

The New Brunswick-based singer-songwriter and guitarist was also named male vocalist of the year, recording/producer of the year, and songwriter of the year.

Andersen was the only multiple award winner at the ceremony held at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto on Monday night.

The other winners included Colin James, Suzie Vinnick, Crystal Shawanda, Miss Emily, Little Magic Sam, Tedeschi Trucks, Garrett Mason, Guy Belanger, Jesse O’Brien, Alison Young, Garrett Mason, and Gary Kendall.

B.C.-based radio veteran Brant Zwicker was presented with the Blues Booster of the Year award.

The Blues With a Feeling award for lifetime achievement went to Sue Foley.

Hosted by Quisha Wint, the event included performances by nominees the Blackburn Brothers, Brandon Isaak, Andersen, Angelina Hunter, and Crystal Shawanda, all backed by the new Maple Blues Awards house band, The Maples.
