JUNO award-winning artist Dominique Fils-Aimé has announced the second album in her latest trilogy, My World is the Sun, coming out February 20 via Ensoul Records.
The album is the follow-up to 2023’s Our Roots Run Deep which won Vocal Jazz Album of the Year at the 2024 JUNO Awards, ASDIQ’s 2024 Félix Award for Jazz Album of the Year and was longlisted for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize. My World is the Sun picks up where Our Roots Run Deep as Fils-Aimé continues her quest for sonic, creative, and spiritual freedom.
The project is preceded by two singles, “Going Home” and “The River.”
The album is partly inspired by a cassette vocal recording from the 1970s of Fils-Aimé’s mother that the singer-songwriter stumbled upon one day at her family home. That recording, “Ma Mélodie [intro]” opens the album, paying homage to the journey of seeking peace for one’s self and for others.
In celebration of her upcoming release, Fils-Aimé will embark on a world tour with stops in the US, Europe and here in Canada throughout 2026 and 2027.
