Grammy Nominations announced

The 2017 Grammy nominations have been announced.

Among those getting a nod for the 59th annual event include, Joey Alexander for "Countdown,", Brad Mehldau for "Blues and Ballads," Gregory Porter for his album Take Me to the Alley, and Branford Marsalis Quartet With Special Guest Kurt Elling for Upward Spiral.

Canadians in the mix include, jazz composer and bandleader Darcy James Argue who has been nominated in large ensemble jazz category. Argue is Canadian, and has spoken with JAZZ.FM91 at the Toronto Jazz Festival.

Drummer, producer and clinician Larnell Lewis is also up for a nod with Snarky Puppy. The ensemble has received a nomination for Culcha Vulcha under Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.
