Zayd Nawaz picked up both electric and upright bass in his early teens and immediately found a connection to the versatility and demand. He has since performed with a list of orchestras, concert bands, symphonies, folk and blues singer-songwriters, as well as jazz ensembles, and contemporary rock and metal bands in the local Toronto circuit. Jazz is a heavy fascination and something Zayd takes back with him into contemporary settings such as his primary passion project, the experimental math metal band Sea Noto. Zayd has been a key member of the band and instrumental in driving it to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors The Dillinger Escape Plan. Fusing complex time signatures, abrasive metallic guitars and dynamic jazz to create an engaging aural experience.
