Vivian (Zhuo) Yang is an emerging jazz pianist, arranger, improviser, and composer based in the GTA and KW region. With a foundation in classical piano, she brings versatility to her performances, focusing on straight-ahead and Latin jazz while also engaging with Soul, R&B, Indie, and Jazz fusion projects.

She is completing her Bachelor of Music at Humber College, her second degree, where she has had the fortune and opportunity to study with many of Canada’s leading jazz musicians. Since 2023, she has been continuously studying under Cuban-Canadian pianist Hilario Durán, deepening her rhythmic and harmonic approach to Latin jazz. During her studies at Humber, she has received multiple awards, including two jazz.fm91 Scholarships.

Influenced by Bill Evans, Kenny Barron, Fred Hersch, and Hilario Durán, Vivian’s playing combines lyrical touch with a clear, warm tone and melodic sensibility. She has appeared with the Humber Big Band alongside Lucy Yeghiazaryan and Grant Stewart, and has led her own ensemble played at different venues including The Rex and major Humber events. She also performs improvised solo sets in the KW area and collaborates widely as a side musician across genres.
