In less than two weeks, Canada’s blues community will gather together to celebrate the best in Blues music.

The Canadian Blues Music Awards is the new and reimagined ceremony replacing the Toronto Blues Society’s longstanding Maple Blues Awards which was last held in 2023. This new ceremony was announced during Toronto Blues Society’s 40th anniversary celebrations last summer.

“We are excited about this bold new direction and grateful for everyone who has contributed to making it possible,” said Chair Quinta Wint in an announcement last year. “Together, we can ensure that the Canadian Blues Music Awards truly celebrate the extraordinary talent, passion, and resilience of blues artists across our nation.”

Longtime host of BLUZ.FM Danny Marks will be hosting the show as well as performing on the night. Featured performers include nominees Crystal Shawanda, Dana Wylie,  Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, Brandon Isaak and Steve Marriner. Other nominees include Angelique Francis who is nominated for five awards including Blues Song of the Year and Blues Female Vocalist of the Year.

The inaugural Canadian Blues Music Awards takes place on Monday March 30 at Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. Doors open at 6PM with the show starting at 7PM. JAZZ.FM91 listeners can win tickets to attend the awards ceremony by clicking here.
