Jennifer Beavis is a seasoned professional in the music publishing industry, boasting over 33 years of experience since her graduation from Fanshawe College’s Music Industry Arts program in 1993. Her passion for music began in her early childhood, developing into a profound appreciation for all genres. This love was further enhanced during her weekly five-hour listening marathons of radio programs on Chez 106 in Ottawa, which provided her with a deep appreciation of Jazz, Blues, and 1960s music, cementing her affinity for these styles.

Her distinguished career includes significant roles at multinational publishers like BMG and EMI, as well as independent firms such as Nettwerk Productions. She served as Director of Copyright at the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA), Director of Publishing and Licensing Administration for Nettwerk, and Executive Director of the Songwriters Association of Canada. She was also Senior Director of Administration at ole (now Anthem Entertainment), managing catalogue acquisitions and publishing administration for over five years.

She was elected to the SOCAN Board of Directors in 2021 for the 2021-2024 term, currently serving her second term and chairing a committee. Jennifer’s board contributions also include the Canadian Music Publishers Association, where she is a founding member of The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Canadian Country Music Awards, and the Durham College Music Business Management Committee. She has lectured on copyright and publishing both domestically and internationally.
