Canadian Jazz legends Shakura S’Aida and Jackie Richardson joined Raina Hersh during the Interval earlier this month to chat about about their upcoming show, On Their Shoulders – a once-in-a-lifetime concert celebrating the African Canadian artists who have made invaluable contributions to the Toronto music community, taking place on Saturday, June 21 during the Toronto Jazz Festival.
Among the jazz legends being honoured at the event include vibraphonist and marimba player Frank Wright, drummer Archie Alleyne, and vocalists Jodie Drake, Jackie Shane and Dianne Brooks. Featured performers include Joe Sealy, Molly Johnson, Jay Douglas, Joy Lapps, Bobby Dean Blackburn, SATE, tUkU, Eddie Bullen, Brooke Blackburn and Larnell Lewis.
