Paul Callander is a 20-year-old trumpet player and composer studying at Humber College. He started playing the trumpet at age 12, and quickly began improvising jazz far beyond his years. He has been a part of many incredible musical opportunities, such as opening for the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, performing with renowned musicians like Ted Nash, Dick Oatts, Terrell Stafford, Pat Labarbera, Alex Dean, Geoffrey Keezer and more. He has also won many prestigious awards and scholarships including the Heritage Festival Maestro Award, the Gordon and Anne Wragg scholarship, and most recently the Don Johnson Memorial award. Paul is a member of the Dennis Kwok Jazz Orchestra and the Toronto All-Star Big Band. He is currently working on his debut album titled The Green Trees of June, which he plans to release in the coming months.
