Mack Avenue Music Group and Two Lions Records have announced a joint release featuring an expansive collection featuring unreleased live recordings from Oscar Peterson. The collection, titled World Tour, is a limited edition centennial box set which includes five never-before-heard live performances and a TV studio recording, spanning across three decades and four continents. The collection also includes a 48-page hardcover book with never-before-seen archival material, including Oscar’s own photography, poetry, and personal remembrances from family, friends and fellow musicians. World Tour will be available in two formats, 6-LP 180-gram vinyl box set and a 4-CD set, as well as on streaming platforms.
Produced by Oscar’s wife Kelly Peterson who also runs Two Lions Records, World Tour features five previously-unheard live concerts that took place globally from 1969-1996 featuring Detroit, São Paulo, Basel, Auckland and Toronto. In a statement on his official website, the Estate of Oscar Peterson expressed, “In celebrating the enduring impact Oscar Emmanuel Peterson has had on the world since 1925, we must first lift the veil and allow all who have been inspired by his creativity to understand the man at a more intimate level: his vulnerability, his dedication, his passion and his family.” The collection marks the beginning of the next 100 years in Peterson’s legacy, currently stewarded by Kelly and their daughter Céline Peterson.
Kelly Peterson will join Heather Bambrick in the morning on Tuesday, August 25 to talk about Oscar’s legacy and the new collection. Be sure to tune in to Wake Up! with Heather Bambrick on August 25 to hear the full interview.
