As if the kind of canvas it touches down upon is one meant for the enjoyment of the ear in a way that is equal to the experiences the eye has when seeing colors mixed and blended in ways that excite, and stimulate how and what you see. That is the how of the way the artistry of the drummer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Nate Smith defies the rules of the senses and allows those very senses the freedom to fully taste how the others feel, see, and hear. Color is sound and light is volume. Rhythm can be experienced as a rippling effect and be felt like a tickle on the skin as easily, and with as much definition, as it can inspire movement. Smith gessoes the canvas and then fills the entire surface with a soundscape of pure adventure.
