Brandee Younger, Cécile McLorin Salvant and Jon Batiste are among the jazz artists nominated for this year’s NAACP Image Awards.
The annual awards ceremony presented by the U.S.-based National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) honours outstanding performances in film, television, theatre, music and literature.
The 55th annual NAACP Image Awards take place Saturday, March 16, 2024.
The nominees for outstanding jazz album are Brandee Younger’s Brand New Life, Cécile McLorin Salvant’s Mélusine, Lakecia Benjamin’s Phoenix, Angie Wells’ Truth Be Told, and Braxton Cook’s Who Are You When No One is Watching?
Jon Batiste is nominated for outstanding male artist, alongside Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Davido, and Usher.
Branford Marsalis is nominated for best original score for TV/film for his soundtrack to Rustin.
