Molly Johnson is among the esteemed Canadians to be recognized at this year’s Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards.
The acclaimed jazz vocalist and founder of the annual Kensington Market Jazz Festival is one of seven who will be honoured by Governor General Mary Simon this spring.
The other GGPAA recipients for lifetime artistic achievement are singers k.d. lang and Rosemarie Landry, playwright Michel Marc Bouchard and choreographer James Kudelka.
The 2023 Ramon John Hnatyshyn Award for voluntarism in the performing arts goes to John Kim Bell, who founded the Indspire Awards in celebration of Indigenous achievement.
Finally, the recipient of the National Arts Centre Award is actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, best known for Kim’s Convenience.
