An innovative improviser, composer, and arranger, Matthew O’Halloran is a pianist studying jazz performance at the University of Toronto. O’Halloran composes original music for his quintet and has performed with ensembles such as the University of Toronto Jazz Orchestra and the University of Toronto Jazz 12tet. He has performed in the Toronto Undergraduate Jazz Festival, Kensington Market Jazz Festival, Merrickville Jazz Festival, and the Ottawa Jazz Festival, where he won the Stingray Music Award in 2022 while playing in the Youth Summit ensemble. O’Halloran also has a background in classical piano performance, winning 2016 Best In Festival Piano at the Lion’s Club Music Festival in his hometown of Brockville, Ont. His website is mohmusic.ca.
