The World of Jazz Festival, presented by B-Jazzed, is proud to celebrate its 5th anniversary by continuing to offer a first-class event which will maintain a LIVE performance portion, as well as a LIVESTREAM concert, taking place Sept. 11-12.

Featuring 17 ensembles over two days, local audiences can enjoy free performances throughout Brampton and at restaurants in the downtown core on Saturday, Sept. 11, and world-wide audiences can watch a live virtual concert from the internationally acclaimed, extraordinarily beautiful Koerner Hall, within the TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning, on Sunday, Sept. 12.

Live Community & Restaurant Performances

The admission-free World of Jazz Festival kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 11 with 11 bands playing live at seven different Brampton locations, including Gage Park from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the Long & McQuade Musical Instruments store from 1 to 5 p.m. In addition, there will be live restaurant performances for lunch from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and for dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. at 5 restaurants in Downtown Brampton, featuring salsa, funk, swing, soul and a jazz jam.

 

Livestream Concert from Koerner Hall

Sunday, Sept. 12 boasts an amazing lineup of six bands, streaming live from 1 to 7:30 p.m., on the World of Jazz pages on Facebook and YouTube, and at worldofjazz.ca. The live-stream, which can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home, will feature the following performances:

  • 1 p.m.: Trane of Thought: A Tribute to John Coltrane (bebop)
  • 2:15 p.m.: Big Butter & Egg Men (swing)
  • 3:15 p.m.: Saint “O” (Afro-Caribbean jazz)
  • 4:15 p.m.: Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar (blues)
  • 5:15 p.m.: Son D’Aqui: A Tribute to the Fania Label (Latin jazz)
  • 6:30 p.m.: Rob Tardik (smooth jazz)
