On June 21 TONE unlocks reactive potential at the Tranzac with Zoh Amba (saxophone) and Chris Corsano (percussion). Each artist brings a prodigious world of sound to their improvising practice, capable of blistering roars, transcendent oases, and worlds in between. Brussels-based Farida Amadou brings her transformative bass playing that takes turbulent crushed tones and renders them familiar and nuanced. The rhythmic agility of Ways (Brodie West, and Evan Cartwright), described by the Wire as “…deeply thoughtful and absorbing,” add to the evening with their refined sound-weaving, bringing an uncanny mutualism to their reeds and drums.
