Storm Large
at Koerner Hall
Musician, actor, playwright, author, awesome. Singer Storm Large of Pink Martini and Rock Star: Supernova fame performs her own brand of in-your-face Broadway, jazz, and rock-goddess anthems. The New York Times has called her “sensational.” Not for the faint of heart!
Storm Large has performed in clubs, with symphony orchestras all over the USA and UK, with the New York Pops, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Popular Song series, as well as with Liza Minnelli, Joel Grey, and the Pasadena Pops. She has also sung with Grammy Award winner k.d. lang, pianist Kirill Gerstein, punk rocker John Doe, singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright, and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer George Clinton. Her autobiographical musical memoir, Crazy Enough, played to packed houses in Portland, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Adelaide Festival in Australia, and Joe’s Pub in New York. Her memoir, Crazy Enough, was released by Simon and Schuster in 2012, named Oprah’s Book of the Week, and awarded the Oregon Book Award for Creative Nonfiction. In the fall of 2014, Storm & Le Bonheur released a record designed to capture sublime and subversive interpretations of the American Songbook. The recording is a collection of tortured and titillating love songs: beautiful, familiar, yet twisted … much like the lady herself.
