JAZZ.FM91 presents… Sound of Jazz: A Tribute to the Maestro, Guido Basso

This year, JAZZ.FM91’s contribution to the world stage for International Jazz Day on April 30 is a tribute concert to one of our best, the maestro, Guido Basso. A Canadian jazz icon, once a member of Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass, Basso was a trumpeter, flugelhornist, arranger, composer and conductor. An intuitive player who approached his instrument with deep emotion and agility.
Guido passed away in February of 2023 at the age of 85, and our community misses him dearly. With this tribute concert, we have pulled together some of Canada’s finest players in Chase Sanborn, Brian O’Kane, John Sherwood, Terry Clarke, Neil Swainson and Reg Schwager to honour him.
