JazzInToronto’s Songbird Series: Donovan Locke & Alison Young
- This event has passed.
Enjoy a vibrant afternoon of jazz with vocalist Donovan Locke and saxophonist Alison Young, two standout artists from Toronto’s jazz scene. Donovan Locke is a multi-talented vocalist whose musical journey began singing in church and quickly expanded to performances across Ontario and the U.S. as a teen with the Toronto All-Stars Big Band. His wide-ranging career includes roles in Canadian productions such as David Ferry’s The Postman and Ann-Marie Donovan’s Sounding Rituals, as well as collaborations with jazz legends Cleo Laine, John Dankworth, and Jackie Richardson.
Joining him is JUNO-nominated saxophonist and composer Alison Young. Born and raised in Ottawa, Young discovered jazz early, drawing lasting inspiration from Sonny Rollins and Cannonball Adderley. A featured member of the National Youth Jazz Ensemble in her teens, she has since built a dynamic career blending jazz, soul, and R&B. Whether as bandleader or sought-after sideperson, Alison is known for her soulful tone and unique presence.
