The JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band performs live at The Pilot, in memory of Dr. Michael Arthurs.
Dr. Michael Arthurs, the respected musician and educator who for the past year served as musical director of the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band, passed away last month at the age of 60.
Dr. Arthurs joined JAZZ.FM91 in September of 2022 with more than 25 years of experience as a composer, arranger, music teacher, freelance musician, and recording artist both in Toronto and internationally. Since then, he had been a champion, advocate, confidant and fearless leader for the 13 young musicians in the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band. Dr. Arthurs’ calm and cool leadership led the band to perform at a professional level.
On Monday, Nov. 20, in the Stealth Lounge at The Pilot, the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band will perform in honour of their late mentor.
Doors are at 6 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. No cover charge, no reservations.
