Jazz Tribute to Aretha Franklin:
Tribute to Aretha’s Early Jazz Roots
With Music Director Corey Butler
Date: Monday, November 19th, 2018
Before the great Aretha Franklin became the Queen of Soul, in the early sixties she was signed to Columbia records as a jazz singer. Although mass popularity evaded her then, many of those early recordings are considered classics.
Even after Aretha achieved success as a soul singer, her jazz roots remained an important part of her musical personality.
On November 19th, we pay tribute to the jazz side of the late, Aretha Franklin with Musical Director Corey Butler and vocalists Renee Rowe, Dionne Wilson, Verese Vassell-Bowen and Nicole Sinclair-Anderson.
