Jazz Sundays at the Vista: Stil Trio
- This event has passed.
Presented by Ontario Place
New this year, the Vista Eatery has turned into a weekly live music venue for emerging jazz musicians from across Ontario to perform on our waterfront patio! These musicians are students or recent grads from University of Toronto, York University, Humber College and Mohawk College. The program will provide these musicians the opportunity to gain experience, develop their audiences, network with fellow musicians and industry professionals and perform in one of the few venues in the city that features live jazz music.
The program is co-curated and hosted by Robert Missen, who has had a long and distinguished career in the Canadian performing arts as artist manager, agent, producer and promoter. Robert has worked with some of Canada’s most notable performers and has a real passion and ability to nurture and showcase musical talent.
So sit back in a muskoka chair and let us provide the entertainment!
Please visit the Vista Eatery page for more info, including location and regular hours of operations.
This Sunday: Stil Trio
Stil Trio (German: Style) is composed of three accomplished undergraduate students from the University of Toronto’s Jazz Studies program. Inspired and informed by art of the 20th century, David Hodgson (saxophone), Evan Gratham (bass), and Keith Barstow (drums) transform qualities otherwise reserved for visual arts (such as colour, form, and space) into a musical medium. Stil Trio attempts to recreate visualisation through their shared musical experiences, unique improvisational voices, and compositional structures and arrangements. Their music is highly expressive and nuanced, while still full of energy and groove.
