Over the past 60 years, Don Thompson has established himself as a giant in Canada’s jazz scene.
In the ’70s, Thompson established himself as a member of Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass, Moe Koffman’s group, Jim Hall’s trio and the house rhythm section at Toronto’s Bourbon Street Jazz Club. In the ’80s, he paired up with George Shearing and appeared at virtually every major jazz club and festival in the United States as well as touring the United Kingdom and Brazil. Since then, the multi-instrumentalist has composed and performed countless pieces of music of his own while collaborating with an unending list of jazz talent. He has won several Juno Awards and been recognized with numerous other awards honouring his stature in the Canadian jazz community.
