Join us this holiday season for the second edition of the Caribbean Christmas Mixtape, a Sound of Jazz: Live to Air concert featuring Larnell Lewis, Joy Lapps and special guests.
Backed by the talents of pianist Jeremy Ledbetter, bassist Rich Brown, guitarist Jeremy Hector and vocalist Subria Lapps, Joy and Larnell take inspiration from their upbringing as two Canadians born to Afro-Caribbean parents in the 1980s, and the traditions they keep as they nurture their own family. They’ve taken influence from the calypso, zouk, reggae, soul and R&B sounds of their ancestry and blended it with their own modern approaches to jazz and hip-hop. The result is a musical mixtape that’s rich with culture and tradition — just like the one Larnell’s father played for the family every Christmas while preparing their home for the joys of the holiday season.
