GRAMMY award-winning vocalist and jazz-pop darling Laufey has signed with Interscope/Verve Records, six years after launching her career as an independent artist.
The news was announced earlier today off the heels of Laufey’s sold-out 70-date A Matter of Time global arena tour which ended over the weekend in Mexico City.
Since her debut in 2020, the Icelandic-born singer has captivated audiences with her unique approach to jazz and pop music, inspiring a new generation of jazz lovers. Her debut album, Everything I Know About Love, was released in 2022 under the global recording platform AWAL (Artists Without A Label) and was certified Gold. It was followed by 2023’s Bewitched and 2025’s A Matter Of Time, which went platinum, made it to the top 10 on Billboard’s Top 200 and won the GRAMMY for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album in 2024 and 2026 respectively. The albums made Laufey the most streamed Icelandic artist in the history of the country, with over seven billion streams and counting.
Earlier this year, Laufey released her first children’s book, Mei Mei The Bunny, which became a New York Times Bestseller and this past August, she celebrated the arts with the fourth annual “A Very Laufey Day,” for which she curated events in 75 cities across 25+ countries, featuring live performances (including symphony orchestras, ballet, jazz, opera, theater and a limited-edition concert series presented in 10 cities around the globe by Candlelight) plus events in museums, libraries, bookstores, cafes/coffee shops, yogurt/ice cream shops and more. All proceeds from the event’s brand collaborations and merch sales went to The Laufey Foundation, which makes education and resources more accessible to young musicians.
Founded in 1956 by Norman Granz, Verve Records has become home to some of the most pioneering acts in music, including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan to modern-day jazz artists such as Jon Batiste, Samara Joy, Arooj Aftab, Diana Krall, aron!, Sparklmami and more. Combining the legacies of three of the most influential record labels in modern music history, Interscope Geffen A&M is part of Universal Music Group, the world’s largest music company.
