Six-time GRAMMY nominee and renowned saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin has released her first holiday single, a soulful rendition of “The Christmas Song,” featuring two-time GRAMMY nominated vocalist Christie Dashiell.

The single is Benjamin’s first release on Artwork Records, coming out after it was announced last week that she signed to the Paris-based record label. Founded in 2022 by the late Jean-Philippe Allard, Artwork Records is home to jazz greats such as Kenny Barron, Sullivan Fortner, Jesse Harris, Tyreek McDole, Micah Thomas, and more.

The holiday classic was written in 1945 by Robert Wells and Mel Torme and made popular by the Nat King Cole Trio in 1946. “I’ve always loved “The Christmas Song.” I’m so glad to have the truly amazing singer Christie Dashiell join me on one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs,” says Benjamin. “I hope this song brings listeners some joy and happiness during the season.”

“The Christmas Song” is the first collaboration between Benjamin and Dashiell and also features bassist Elias Bailey, pianist Oscar Perez, organist Miki Hayama, percussionist Bendji Allonce and Cremaine Booker, who composed the arrangement for the song.

Benjamin is currently nominated for the GRAMMY for Best Jazz Peformance for her song “Noble Rise,” while Dashiell is nominated for Best Jazz Vocal Album alongside Terri Lyne Carrington for their album, We Insist 2025!
