Kayla Hoshizaki is a Canadian vibraphonist, arranger, and composer. Drawn to music at a very young age, Hoshizaki has explored music on many instruments including the piano, tenor saxophone, drums, and vibraphone. She is currently in her fourth year in Humber’s Bachelor of Music program and is working on her debut album set to be released in 2025. She has enjoyed studying under many well-renowned musicians in Toronto such as Michael Davidson, Mike Downes, Amanda Tosoff, and Alex Dean. Her musical style is informed by her interest in modern jazz, musical theatre, and film/video game soundtracks. Many of her listeners describe her music as sounding like something that belongs in a video game, melodically driven and playful. She was also the recipient of JAZZ.FM91’s 2024 Peter Appleyard Award.
