Known as Canada’s fun-loving, soul-searching jazz-organ trio with no two shows alike, they keep fans coming back to see them again and again.
JV’s Boogaloo Squad will play an exclusive Live to Air concert in the Long & McQuade Performance Hall on Thursday, May 30.
Led by keyboardist and composer Joel Visentin, JV’s Boogaloo Squad have worked their way up through the national club circuit, recently headlining at major jazz festivals including the TD Toronto International Jazz Festival in 2018. In the short time since its 2019 release, their debut album Going to Market has reached #6 on the U.S. campus jazz radio charts and #29 on JazzWeek’s U.S. commercial radio chart. JAZZ.FM91’s own Brad Barker called it a must-hear jazz album for 2019.
This group has a unique and soulful sound that is thrilling on impact and deeply evocative of a timeless musical nostalgia. With an extensive repertoire combining original music and soul hits, along with a palatable energy on stage, a show with JV’s Boogaloo Squad is guaranteed to have audiences dancing on their feet and calling out for more.
The lineup:
- Joel Visentin – keyboard
- Adam Beer-Colacino – guitar
- Jeff Halischuk – drums
- Kelly Jefferson – saxophone
