Julia D’Ascanio is a vocalist based in Toronto. While her foundation is in jazz, she is incredibly versatile and at home in other genres like classical, musical theatre, and R&B. D’Ascanio is currently enrolled in the jazz voice performance program at the University of Toronto. She has performed with renowned artists Terri Lyne Carrington and Micah Barnes, and has studied with notable Toronto musicians including Tara Davidson, Christine Duncan, Tara Kannangara, Jacqueline Teh, Hannah Barstow, Nicky Schrire, and Lauren Falls. D’Ascanio was a recipient of the Duke Ellington Society Jazz Scholarship for 2021-22. She was also a member of the Toronto All-Star Big Band from 2020 to 2023. She has performed at the Beaches International Jazz Festival, the Kensington Market Jazz Festival, and at venues including the Rex, the Emmet Ray, the Tranzac, Casa Loma,and the Old Mill.
