Jordan Middleton is a young alto saxophonist born in High River, Alberta who grew up playing in the Calgary jazz scene in a myriad of bands, big and small. After occupying the lead alto chair for two years in the JazzYYC Youth Lab Band, he moved to Toronto to immerse himself in jazz studies at the University of Toronto. This year marks the second consecutive year he has been appointed as lead alto in the U of T 10 o’clock Jazz Orchestra, directed by Shirantha Beddage. Jordan has since become a developed bandleader and composer, orchestrating many of his own concerts in the big city where he debuts student compositions written by himself and his peers. Having just started his third year at the University of Toronto, Jordan is ready to share his musical ideologies, influences, and future plans on jazz.fm91’s Jazzology series.
