The Jazz Mechanics have put together a music video for their rendition of Rob McConnell’s A Tribute to Art Fern, recorded individually from each of their homes.

The Jazz Mechanics are a community big band from Brampton, Ont., with a mandate to perform and record compositions and arrangements by Canadians.

Among the band’s greatest influences are Rob McConnell and the Boss Brass, the renowned Toronto jazz orchestra formed in 1968 featuring the city’s leading musicians.

“Most of the members of the band got to hear the band live, and several of us were fortunate to study and even perform with members of the band,” the band says. “We all have an enormous amount of love and admiration for the music of the Boss Brass.”
