There’s a new jazz festival in town celebrating Toronto’s diverse talent in jazz!
Jazz in Toronto, a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting Toronto’s musicians, audiences, venues and presenters, will host Jazz in Toronto Community Celebration, described as “a grassroots affair with a passion for community.”
Produced by founders Lina Welch and Ori Dagan, both award-winning jazz artists in their own right, this community celebration aims to bring out the best in Toronto jazz.
“When it comes to the combination of talent and diversity, there is probably no place in the world quite as vibrant as Toronto,” says Ori Dagan. “The hardest part about programming a festival like this is narrowing it down, as there are so many local musicians deserving of attention.”
The festival will take place from May 30-June 1 at various venues across the city such as The Rex, Jazz Bistro and TD Music Hall. The line-up consists of a mix of established and emerging artists in the local jazz scene including Jane Bunnett, Michael Shand, Queen Mary the Artist, Robert Ball, Alex Samaras Trio, Lady Son, Trombone Charlotte and more.
