In late 2017, a coalition of Canadian creative industry stakeholders released a statement committing to zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, bullying and violence. This coalition led to the development of a Code of Conduct, safer reporting measures and industry-wide education.

Today, close to 100 creative industry companies and associations have formally signed on to what has evolved to become the Canadian Creative Industries Code of Conduct. In April of 2019, JAZZ.FM91 became a signatory to this code of conduct.

By becoming a signatory to the Code, JAZZ.FM91’s board, management and staff are acknowledging their collective responsibility to build a safe and respectful workplace. Staff, management and members of the board of directors have signed a personal pledge to adhere to the principles set out in the Code of Conduct. Training and a signed acknowledgement of the Code of Conduct at JAZZ.FM91 is now part of the on-boarding process for newly hired personnel at the station and for directors when coming on to the board.

As part of the Code of Conduct, JAZZ.FM91 has set out a process for reporting incidents when someone feels they have experienced or witnessed a breach of the Code. This process ensures anonymity where appropriate and protection from reprisal. JAZZ.FM91 has also adopted a detailed process for complaint resolution that is unbiased, professional and timely.
