James Griffith is an award-winning saxophonist and composer based in the Greater Toronto Area, originally from Lloydminster, Alta.

Griffith performs and writes within the contemporary and traditional jazz idioms. Over the years, he has been fortunate to participate in multiple national-renowned ensembles, festivals and workshops, including the ConnSelmer Centerstage Band, the Humber X Ensemble and Youth Jazz Canada, among others. He has also been privileged to have played and worked with many nationally and internationally renowned artists, including Dayna Stephens, Terri Lyne Carrington, Kirk MacDonald, Brian Dickinson and more.

In his fourth and final year of the bachelor of music program at Humber College, he is gearing towards the preparation and release of an album of his own original music, collaborating with many of Canada’s young rising stars in jazz in the process. You can find him performing around the GTA at venues such as the Jazz Bistro, the Poetry Jazz Cafe, the Emmet Ray and more.
