Jacob Pozin is a trumpeter and vocalist based in Toronto. Having just finished his music degree at York University, he was fortunate to learn from Canadian jazz greats Kevin Turcotte, Kelly Jefferson, Noam Lemish, and Mike Cado. As an improviser, Jacob draws inspiration from mid-century crooners like Chet Baker, as well as contemporary hit-makers like Cory Wong.
Jacob has performed with many ensembles at York University, including the Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Workshops, R&B, Balkan Music, and Chamber Music ensembles, among others.
Outside of York, Jacob’s most recent interest is in the intersection between jazz and world music, especially klezmer and Balkan music. Now in his first year of teacher’s college, you might find Jacob playing in local big bands and jazz groups around the city.
