The Toronto Arts Foundation has announced the 2026 finalists for their Breakthrough Jazz Artist award as part of their 2026 Arts Awards Season. This year’s finalists are Julian Anderson-Bowes (Acoustic & Electric Bassist), Agneya (Percussionist) and Jon Catanus (Drummer).
The award is presented to an emerging jazz artist based in Toronto with two to seven years experience in the field as solo artist and/or artists who have supported other artists in the field. The winner receives a $10,000 cash prize plus $2,000 for finalists. The award is generously supported by Michael Bourgeois & Marilyn Legge.
The Toronto Arts Foundation is Toronto’s charity for the arts with a focus on bringing the arts to communities across the city through programs, initiatives, awards and grants. The winner for the 2026 Breakthrough Jazz Artist Award will be announced during the Toronto Jazz Festival, running from June 19-28, 2026.
