Award-winning Latin Jazz trombonist, composer and arranger Papo Vázquez stopped by Cafe Latino with Laura Fernandez to chat about his life, his 40+ year career and his legacy. The Philadelphia native has made his mark in Latin Jazz and Afro-Caribbean music and is considered one of the pioneers of Puerto Rico’s Bomba jazz style which roots hail from West Africa. He has released over 10 studio albums as bandleader and was the 2011 NEA Jazz Master.
