Dennis Kwok is a multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, performer, and composer based in Toronto. Originally from Calgary, his interest in jazz and improvised music lead him to further studies at Humber College in Toronto where he has stayed since. As a saxophonist and woodwind doubler, he has studied under the likes of Pat Labarbera, Kirk MacDonald, Nina Martini-Dorey, Richard Thomson, Nadina Mackie Jackson and David Sussman among others. His versatility has led him to involvement in contrasting genres from the orchestra to the funk band including collaborations with JUNO award winner, Allison Au, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
Dennis is currently an active performer in the Greater Toronto Area as a freelancer, bandleader, and member of Mason Victoria’s Sonuskapos Jazz Orchestra, and the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. He is also sought-after as an arranger and composer for his experience writing for varying groups from folk-chamber ensemble to big band. His work can be heard on several recordings by Toronto-based recording artists as well as his upcoming debut album “Windward Bound” with the Dennis Kwok Jazz Orchestra.
